Don't replace it.
Bring it back.

Hidewell Leather Recoloring Balm is pigment and conditioner in the same jar. It colours the hide and feeds it at the same time. That's the whole trick.

Real hide · No filter
01Cracked, sun-bleached, twelve years old. One coat in.
The honest part

You can't replace it.
You can only buy something else.

The chair outlasted two apartments. The jacket has your shape in the elbows. The driver's seat knows exactly how you sit. None of that comes in a box from a showroom — and none of it is worth losing over some cracking and a faded patch.

Takes an afternoon · Not a professional
Balm · Not paint
02Thick enough to hold a peak. Thin enough to vanish into the grain.
Why it works

Four things
a dye can't do.

Pigment and conditioner. One jar.

Dyes strip and stain. This carries colour and emollient oils together, so the hide takes pigment while it's being fed. Colour goes on. Suppleness comes back.

It flexes with the hide.

Cures soft, never brittle. Elbows, seat bolsters, armrests, saddle flaps — the places that move are where cheap coatings crack first. This one moves with them.

It sets. Then it stays.

Fully cured in 24 hours and bonded into the surface, not sitting on top of it. No transfer onto white shirts, pale jeans, or the back of anybody's legs.

Instructions are on the jar.

Scan the printed code. Four steps, filmed, no guesswork about coats or dry time. You are not handed a jar and wished good luck.

Coat one → coat two
03Worked in with the grain. Thin coats, always.
The method

Four steps.
One afternoon.

I

Strip the old finish

Prep spray lifts silicone, wax and years of furniture polish. The balm needs bare hide to bond to — this is the step people skip and then blame the product.

5 minutes
II

Work the balm in

Thin coat, circular, with the grain. Sponge or cloth. It goes on darker than it dries — resist the urge to pile it on.

10 minutes
III

Second coat where it's worst

Armrests, seat cushions, elbow creases. Two thin coats beat one heavy coat every single time.

1 hour between
IV

Condition and cure

Seal with the conditioning cream, buff off, and leave it alone. Sit on it tomorrow like nothing ever happened.

24 hours
24h cure · Zero transfer
04White cloth, full pressure, day after. Nothing lifts.
The range

Ten shades,
blended to match.

Not ten colours off a chart. Ten tones mixed against real hides — car seats, club chairs, saddles, jackets — so they sit into existing leather instead of shouting over it.

Choose your shade at the top of this page. Between two tones? Go one step darker — leather always lightens slightly as it cures.

Shade matching
05Blended against the untouched panel. Seam disappears.
Straight answers

Ask the hard
questions first.

Will it rub off on my clothes?
No — once it's cured. Give it the full 24 hours. The balm bonds into the surface rather than sitting on top like shoe polish, so after curing there's no transfer onto white shirts, pale jeans or seat belts. Sit on it after two hours and that's the clock, not the chemistry.
Is this just paint that will crack again?
It's a balm, not a lacquer. It cures flexible, which is why it survives the parts that move — elbows, bolsters, armrests, saddle flaps. Hard coatings crack there within weeks. That's the entire reason this is formulated as a conditioning balm instead of a dye.
What if the shade doesn't match my leather?
Test on a hidden panel first — under a cushion, inside a seat rail, back of a jacket hem. Ten tones cover the overwhelming majority of hides, and it blends rather than blocks. Between two shades, take the darker one; cured leather reads a touch lighter than wet balm.
Will one jar be enough?
A single jar covers a standard three-seat sofa or a full set of car seats with two thin coats. Two thin coats beat one heavy coat every time — thick application is the number one cause of a patchy finish, not running short.
Does it work on bonded or faux leather?
Yes, on genuine, bonded and most PU faux leathers, provided the surface is intact. Where the top layer has flaked away down to the backing cloth, fill that area first — no colourant bridges a hole. Suede and nubuck are a no.
How is it shipped and how fast?
Sealed, boxed and tracked. Orders placed before the daily cut-off leave the same working day. You'll have a tracking number by the next morning and delivery typically lands within 2–5 business days.
What if I'm not happy with the result?
Message us with photos of the piece and the panel you tested. Nine times out of ten it's an application fix — prep skipped, coat too heavy, cure rushed — and we'll walk you through it. If it genuinely isn't right for your hide, we'll make it right.

It's not gone.
It's just faded.

One jar, one afternoon, and the thing you were about to give up on is back in the room where it belongs.
